Tyrell N6 is an emulation of the famous Roland Juno 60 polyphonic synthesizer. It features two oscillators, a noise oscillator, a ring modulation, and over 500 presets to choose from. The Tyrell N6 synth comes with chorus, overdrive, and filter feedback on board. This synth also has an oscillator drift feature that emulates the original Roland Juno 60 for a very authentic sound.

Although I loved being a DJ, I wanted to go beyond the playing and really understand how music worked. Although very insightful, it still wasn’t enough — I was hungry for knowledge and wanted to understand how a DJ could connect with an audience, so I delved into the world of Musicology to understand how music affects and influences our brain.

My sister is a TV comedy writer, and she once told me all she wants to do when she gets home is watch CSI or some other dark, dramatic show — because all she does all day is write jokes! I’ve noticed a similar pattern (have you?). When I’m done with a long string of shows, all I want to do is listen to nothing. But I found a loophole for this: Listen to the stuff you listened to as a teenager or when you first started getting into music. For me that’s ’90s R&B and neo-soul. Give me Ms. Lauryn Hill or Destiny’s Child and I’m instantly transported to a happy place, where I can dance around like a dummy and not care about anything.
Live at the Apollo, 1962 opens with Fats Gonder, the emcee of the evening, addressing the Harlem, New York crowd. He says, “So now, ladies and gentlemen, it is Star Time. Are you ready for Star Time?!” He then rattles off a list of Brown’s hits to further bolster the frontman’s larger-than-life persona. After a brief instrumental, the band launches into “I’ll Go Crazy,” which sets the tone for the evening. The band is inhumanly tight and every musician is an absolute slayer on their instrument. I’ll remind you that this was a Wednesday night.
